We’re big believers that coastal homes should feel as light, airy and comfortable as their surroundings. And we have the perfect sofas, chairs, dining tables, headboards and case goods to help you get the coastal living look.
Wicker for the Seaside Interior
Wicker is a material that really evokes the coastline. And it can look great in a living room or bedroom, especially at the beach. For example, check out the scene above from the Vanguard showroom captured at High Point Market. The blue cushions and fun, striped pillows emphasize the beachy feel brought in by the sectional sofa’s wicker base. Paired with the tufted ottoman as coffee table, white armchairs, sisal rug and bright yellow occasional table, this room is beach house ready. We also love this unique bed from Stanley’s Coastal Living Cottage collection. The posts are a unique way to showcase the wicker headboard and footboard. And with bright, white linens and pastel chests, its the apropos centerpiece for a seaside bedroom.
Whether or not you count sailing among your hobbies, the nautical look is always a great style at the beach or lake. Incorporating it is all in the details. Take these slipcovered dining chairs from Vanguard as an example: natural fabric with a row of rope detail makes them at home in your coastal dining room. (And it never hurts to have a large table to gather for meals or game time on vacation!)
Vanguard used a similar rope detail at the corner of these slipcovered cube ottomans. We love them paired with not only another wicker-based sofa, but with a rustic wood table to create a spacious, comfortable seaside living room.
Bright, Light and Comfortable
Above all else, we think any space trying to achieve the “coastal living” look needs to be inviting and bright. The Coastal Living Magazine 2013 Showhouse is a great example. Interior designer Ginger Brewton used natural materials in bright colors to upholster Lee Industries sofas and chairs.
The end result is a mix of traditional and modern furniture that share simple silhouettes and bright hues. We especially love the way Brewton mixed skirted and metal framed pieces. The look is contemporary and still very inviting.
The prior year, we gushed over Urban Grace Interiors‘ take on the ultimate beach house game room. Just look at these natural colored Lee sofa’s flanking the tufted ottoman! Sure, it looks serene now, but add a house full of kids and we know it will get fun and rowdy. Good think that leather-covered ottoman will just look better with time…
Bring the organic upholstered materials into the bedroom to continue an easy, comfortable look throughout your own coastal dream house. The Vanguard Make it Yours collection makes it easy to personalize a headboard with just the right fabric. And the Lacey Headboard Slipcover brings that easy-going, day-at-the-beach feeling to the bedroom.
